"Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character" (Deuteronomy 8:2). "For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water with springs that gush forth in the valleys and hills" (Deuteronomy 8:7).
Friends, we are on a journey. Our journey has a beginning and our journey (at least on this planet) has an ending. The journey, at times, includes painful testing and perhaps broken humility as God grows and perfects us. Sometimes, in the middle of the dry desert, it's good to remember that we are headed somewhere. The path through the barren places really is taking us somewhere. If today is a struggle for you--try to forget the hot sand for a moment--and think about the cool water, awaiting...just ahead. Then walk a bit faster...
