"John answered and said, 'A man can receive nothing unless it has been given him from heaven'" (John 3:27).
The first step towards being consumed with Christ is to understand that everything beneficial comes from Christ. "All good things come from above" (James 1:17). The sin of making comparison that often leads to conflict completely goes away when one is rightly understanding that what we have comes from God and, of course, what we don't have is being witheld by God. That's right--God blesses us with great experiences, and He also blesses us with not so great experiences (at least, not so great from our perspective). We are being consumed with Christ when we trust that God knows what is beneficial for us--even if it is painful.
Today, give God credit for what happens...and for what doesn't happen.
